What do I get from a Discovery Call?

By the end of your discovery call, our vision is that you go away with the following:

  • A sense of whether there is any rapport between us, as trust is vital when starting a new relationship

  • A feeling that you’re better informed about what goes into a project, so you can make a decision

  • New confidence about your next steps, whatever they might be

  • A bit of fresh inspiration about what’s possible for your business

What do I need to prepare or think about before a discovery call?

Ahead of your discovery call with us, there are a few key questions to think about.

We find that these will help you get the best out of your initial time with us.

  • What’s led you to the point of getting in touch with us?

  • What are the top three challenges, problems or pain points you’re facing that you want to resolve?

  • Alternatively, what do you want to achieve or the results from a potential project?

  • What’s your budget or what are you prepared to invest?*

  • How soon do you want to start a project?**

* If you’ve got a budget, we’ll be able to tell you much more quickly what we can do for you based on your goals. We don’t price gouge and take the value we offer seriously

** Our lead time is normally around six to eight weeks, depending on demand. If you want something sooner, let us know upfront, and we’ll see what we can do

How can I make the most of the discovery call?

Overall, it’s an informal chat and there is no pressure or obligations at the end, and here are some more specific questions you can ask:

Branding-specific questions

These branding questions are a bit more self-reflective than the website ones below. This is because it’s important to have your ducks in a row before embarking on your branding.

  1. Am I relatively clear on who my target audience is and what my products or services are?

  2. Am I able to articulate the problems that my ideal customers have and how I solve them?

  3. Do I like your (i.e., Wildings’) aesthetic and the work in your portfolio?

  4. Do I want to refresh or redo my visual identity (rebrand) or start from scratch (brand)?

  5. Do I need help writing up the brand messaging that goes with my brand identity?

Website-specific questions

If you're interested in website design, here are some key questions we'd be asking in your shoes:

  1. What are the long term obligations? (E.g., platform fees, licenses, hosting & maintenance)

  2. What ongoing budget would you recommend? (I.e., make sure you can afford to make the changes that allow your website to grow with your brand)

  3. How much time will it take to do X, Y or Z? (E.g., adding products, publishing blogs, refreshing content)

  4. What kind of changes and additions would I need to come back to you for?

  5. What would be the process for ending our relationship?

  6. What happens if my website breaks?

  7. What level of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is included?

  8. How do you approach website accessibility?

Diagnosing website issues

There are a lot of moving parts with a website, but here are some questions to help you consider what requires attention with your website.

  1. Why isn’t my website bringing in more enquiries or sales?

  2. How do I improve my website’s SEO so more people can find me online?

  3. Do I need to redesign my website, or can it be improved as it is?

  4. How do I keep my website up to date and secure without spending a fortune?

  5. What should my website include to attract and convert the right type of clients?

  6. How can I make my website faster, especially on mobile?

  7. Which platform is best for my business - WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Squarespace?
